Designing this set of matching wedding bands was an emotional journey for me because one of the grooms, Peter, is a dear friend I’ve known for over 15 years. Creating his wedding rings felt like crafting a piece of our shared history.

Our friendship began at Sheffield Hallam University, where I studied Metalwork and Jewellery, and Peter pursued Architecture. Both of us create in different mediums—my tiny sculptures in jewellery and his magnificent buildings—but we share the same passion for thoughtful design. Throughout our friendship, Peter always promised that when the day came to get married, he would come to me for his wedding rings. That day finally arrived in 2023 when Peter and Adrian announced their engagement and began planning their wedding.

I worked closely with them to design matching rings that they would be proud to wear every day. They wanted a minimal and masculine look with a touch of sophisticated contrast. We experimented with black ruthenium and platinum, initially considering opposite designs—one with black ruthenium on the outside and the other on the inside. However, the daily wear and tear of wedding bands required a durable exterior. Since black ruthenium is plated and could chip or scratch over time, we decided to keep it on the interior, preserving the sophisticated contrast while maintaining durability.

Both Peter and Adrian loved the final design—subtle brushed platinum on the outside with a sleek black ruthenium interior. They exchanged vows in the breathtaking setting of a vineyard in South Africa, surrounded by family and friends.

It was truly an honour to craft these rings, symbolising Peter and Adrian’s love and commitment. Seeing them exchange vows in such a beautiful place was a moment I will cherish forever.
