Oscar had a vision of creating a rainbow-coloured opal engagement ring as a complete surprise for his partner, a deeply personal and heartfelt gesture that reflected their unique story. As an architect, Oscar was skilled at designing buildings but had never tackled a project on such an intimate scale. His profession gave him incredible attention to detail, which he brought to every step of the design process.

We began by selecting the perfect opal. Out of 12 stunning black, dark, and crystal Australian opals, Oscar was drawn to an oval dark opal with soft pastel colours. Its unique iridescence captured the essence of his vision and set the tone for the design. With the opal measurements in hand, we embarked on creating a contemporary solitaire with a unique twist, paired with a fitted wedding band.

To add intrigue to the solitaire, we designed a curved band that wrapped around the opal, featuring a bespoke, nature-inspired setting. Embracing the asymmetry of the opal, we complemented it with an arched wedding band with cascading graduated diamonds. Every detail was thoughtfully considered to create a cohesive yet distinctive set.

This ring set is the true essence of bespoke jewellery—where a client’s story and sentiments shape the design. Through collaboration and refinement, the design evolved into something extraordinary.
