Leslie and Phil’s love story is deeply connected to the journey of my jewellery business. We first met on a tiny island in Thailand in 2015, when they became some of my very first AJJ customers. Nearly a decade later, in 2024, it was a heartwarming surprise to hear from them again—now engaged and planning their wedding rings during a trip to the UK.
Since the engagement was already official, Leslie had full involvement in designing her engagement ring—a designer’s dream! She fell in love with our pear and round stone ‘Toi et Moi’ ring design but wanted to make it her own by incorporating her favourite colour, yellow. After reviewing several yellow gemstones, she chose a soft, pale, pear-shaped yellow sapphire (1.11ct) paired with a 0.25ct round diamond to create a delicate yet striking design.
For her wedding bands, Leslie envisioned a wishbone design to complement the Toi et Moi ring. Initially, she planned on a single plain band, but a last-minute burst of inspiration led her to add a matching pave diamond band. When she discovered that the design was named the Tao ring—after Koh Tao, the island where we first met—she knew it was kismet and had to include it in her ring stack.
The final set included three rings: a plain wishbone wedding band, the Tao diamond wishbone wedding ring, and the yellow sapphire and diamond Toi et Moi ring. Together, they created a stunning, personalised collection that perfectly reflected Leslie’s style.
Phil envisioned a sleek, masculine wedding ring in black or silver tones. While we typically work with gold and platinum, we collaborated to design a custom heavy-set platinum band with a shallow groove inlaid with black ruthenium and a matching interior. The brushed matte finish added a modern, understated touch that perfectly suited Phil’s aesthetic.
Sending their custom rings back to Thailand, where my jewellery journey began, was a full-circle moment filled with emotion. It’s a privilege to be part of Leslie and Phil’s love story, and moments like these remind me why I do what I do.

But by asking the right questions and learning about his style and personality, she guided him through creative suggestions that resulted in a piece he completely loved.
Amy's also extremely upfront and transparent about pricing, timing, and the process in general. She keeps you regularly updated and allows ongoing input on the design (and if you follow her on Instagram, you get sneak peeks into the workshop artistry itself!)
