Floating Boulder Opal Necklace
This Australian Boulder Opal has been mined from ironstone boulders underground in Queensland, Australia.
The opal has been formed over millions of years within the cracks of the ironstone, this has created incredible and unique patterns with vibrant flashes of colour.
As these slices of Opal can be fine and delicate, the stonecutter requires great skill in identifying the best way to cut the stone to maximise its beauty. This Boulder Opal has been cut to display the Opal on top with the natural backing of the ironstone at the back.
Set in a minimalistic floating setting the Opal is held in place by 6 claws that hold it securely from the front and the back. Giving maximum space to showcase the stunning gem.
